5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
They say America is the land of the Free, but is it really free? There are lots of laws and regulations but still people prefer to call it that way. The Bible also has lots of laws in the old testament and also in the new testament but people are unable to follow it. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow so nothing has changed and the Bible still makes people free from sin and this world.
WHAT IS PRAYER?
Prayer is the natural outcry from the heart of a human being to his Maker based on his relationship.
- The key is relationship which he is expecting from you.
- Also making sure that you ask him.
- It is a "one-to-one " fellowship with God
The bible says that the new God expects you to ask him via prayer for this freedom.
"Ask and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocked it shall be opened." (Matthew 7:7-8)
PRAYER FOR COMMUNICATING WITH THE LORD
Moses and God spent 40days and 40nights on the Mountain. They had a one on one time with each other.
This special relationship between you and God is important and you should take part in it every day.
When it came to God and the Children of Israel it was important that the camp of Israel was not complained by prophet Baalam. So God even made the donkey talk for maintain the good relationship.
Also in the similar way David was accused of complaint by Ahithophel (a wise man in Davids counsel), and God had to take action against David for Bathsheba. So it is very important to have a forgiving heart when having a relationship other people including God.
PRAYER SHOULD BE WITHOUT CEASING
- Luke 6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God
- Colossians 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
- 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
PRAYER SHOULD BE ONE on ONE (even in a group)
- 5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
- 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
PRAYER SHOULD NOT BE Vain Repetitions OR it will not be HEARD
- 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
- 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
PRAYER is best accepted for a forgiving heart
- 14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
- 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
The bible says as in Proverbs 15:29 - "The LORD is far from the wicked: but he hears the prayer of the righteous".
PRAYER AS SUPPLICATON TO THE LORD
In prayer, we are to pour out our hearts to God, not simply recite memorized words to God.
- 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
PRAYER FOR WOMAN
1 Corinthians chapter 11 talks about how a woman should worship which follows the new testament laws given by Apostle Paul, but this is for a woman to follow based on her conscience.
Not going over this subject but it is important that prayer be made as a supplication to maintain the relationship with God.
PRAYER IS INTERCESSION TO THE LORD
The bible says in Romans 8:26 - "Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."
